Terms of Service

Effective date: June 1, 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

By creating an account or using DirtyJobs.app (the "Platform"), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. These Terms form a binding legal agreement between you and DirtyJobs.app.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be of legal working age.
  • You must have the legal authority to enter into contracts in your jurisdiction.
  • Contractors must pass a background check conducted by Checkr before accepting paid jobs.
  • You may not use the Platform if you have previously been banned or removed.

3. The Platform

DirtyJobs is a marketplace that connects Customers with independent Contractors for home and commercial services. DirtyJobs is not a party to the service agreement between a Customer and a Contractor — we provide the tools, payments infrastructure, and dispute resolution framework, but we are not an employer of Contractors and we do not guarantee the quality of any work performed.

4. Accounts

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • Notify us immediately at support@dirtyjobs.app — report any unauthorized access to your account promptly.
  • One account per person. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent bans or background checks is prohibited and grounds for immediate termination.

5. Jobs, Bids, and Contracts

Customers:

  • You must post accurate descriptions of the work requested.
  • Accepting a bid creates a binding agreement with the Contractor to pay the agreed amount upon satisfactory completion.
  • You may not solicit Contractors found through DirtyJobs to work off-platform.

Contractors:

  • You must hold all licenses and insurance required by applicable law for the services you offer.
  • Submitting a bid represents a binding offer at the stated price.
  • You may not solicit Customers found through DirtyJobs to pay you directly off-platform.

6. Payments and Escrow

  • When a bid is accepted, Customer funds are held in escrow by Stripe.
  • Funds are released to the Contractor once the Customer approves completion of the job.
  • DirtyJobs charges a platform fee on each completed transaction. The current fee is disclosed at checkout.
  • Contractors receive payouts to their linked bank account via Stripe Connect. Payout timing is subject to Stripe's schedule.
  • All payments must be made through the Platform. Off-platform payments void DirtyJobs's dispute protection.

7. Dispute Resolution

If a dispute arises between a Customer and Contractor, the following tiers apply:

  1. Tier 1 — Self Resolution: Both parties attempt to resolve the issue directly through the platform messaging system within 48 hours.
  2. Tier 2 — Mediation: A DirtyJobs mediator reviews the dispute and provides a non-binding recommendation.
  3. Tier 3 — Arbitration: A DirtyJobs administrator reviews all evidence and issues a binding decision. Escrow is disbursed according to the decision.

DirtyJobs's dispute decisions on escrow disbursement are final. They do not affect your right to pursue other legal remedies.

8. Background Checks

Contractors must consent to and pass a background check via Checkr before accepting jobs. If your background check is declined, you may file one appeal through the Platform. Background check results are governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and applicable state law.

9. Prohibited Conduct

You may not:

  • Post false, misleading, or fraudulent job listings or bids.
  • Harass, threaten, or discriminate against any user.
  • Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract data from the Platform.
  • Circumvent fees, background checks, or Platform policies.
  • Impersonate another person or entity.

10. Ratings and Reviews

After a job is completed, both parties may leave a rating. Ratings must be honest and reflect genuine experience. We reserve the right to remove ratings that are fraudulent, retaliatory, or violate these Terms.

11. Taxes

Contractors are independent contractors, not employees of DirtyJobs. You are solely responsible for reporting and paying all applicable federal, state, and local taxes on your earnings. DirtyJobs will issue 1099-NEC forms to Contractors earning $600 or more in a calendar year, as required by law.

12. Termination

Either party may terminate at any time. You may close your account by contacting support@dirtyjobs.app. We may suspend or terminate your account for any violation of these Terms, with or without notice. Active job escrow funds will be handled according to our dispute resolution process upon termination.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. DIRTYJOBS DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE PLATFORM WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY CONTRACTOR IS LICENSED, INSURED, OR QUALIFIED FOR ANY PARTICULAR JOB.

14. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DIRTYJOBS'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE PLATFORM FEES PAID BY YOU IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) $100. IN NO EVENT SHALL DIRTYJOBS BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any legal action must be brought in the federal or state courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

16. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated by email or a prominent in-platform notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
